The executive team at Monsanto wanted their offices to establish a new standard for the nature and use of the workplace, for eventual application throughout their organization. The old individual offices were replaced with an open office layout and numerous flexible spaces.

John Holey developed an evocative agricultural language for the various spaces (meadow, greenhouse, silo) which is entirely appropriate to Monsanto's mission.

The existing glazing was upgraded by means of a sandwiched "climate wall", which allowed substantial energy savings to be realized without reglazing the entire building. Almost all the materials used were from sustainable sources.
