Presidio Vilage Senior
Housing
Pittsburg,
CA
This 104 unit HUD-202
community for
independent seniors is grouped into 4 buildings linked by enclosed,
conditioned walkways. The buildings are organized to form
interior courtyards and an interplay between positive and negative
space.

A
vaulted entry lobby with a mezzanine creates a sense of place and
provides diverse places for the residents to gather.
Reflecting
Pittsburg's capacity for steel production, the building was constructed
using light-gauge steel studs rather than wood, which should provide
durability and mold resistance over time.

Extensive
trellises with integral seating further link the volumes and provide
shade during the hot Pittsburg summers. Most of the units
feature
private decks, which were provided by the Owner and not financed by
HUD. There is also a large shared roof terrace in one
building,
as can be seen in the aerial photo.
